Classmate: Oh, yuck. We’re all eating pork.
Me: It’s not Friday, isn’t pork ok for you?
Classmate: Ever since parasitology I’ve been kind of off pork.
Me: Breakfast pork doesn’t count. Let’s talk about bacteria instead.
Classmate: I am an onion. What kind of Burkholderia should I be afraid of?

Pablo and Baby A. are snuggled in the big blue armchair reading a book about chickens. Chicken books are the favorite birthday present of the day. Good thing too because she received a fair number of them this past week. Her auntie keeps chickens. Baby A. has held tiny chicks in two cupped hands and [...]

Saying Goodbye to Geranium Station

I have lived here at Geranium Station longer than any other house but one. Nearly six years here, nine and a half on Burr Court and twenty other addresses over the remaining sixteen years. That this house feels more like home than any other is not surprising.
I arrived here not knowing what to expect. Pablo [...]
